The Richmond Community Theatre came into existence in 1977 and produces 3 mainstage productions every year. It is one of longest operative community theatres in the state of NC. In a published article, the Richmond Community Theatre is the fifth oldest producing theatre behind theatres in Raleigh, Hickory, Charlotte, and Wilmington, NC. Richmond Pines Country Club was built in 1929. A semi-private club with an 18 hole golf course designed by Donald Ross. The golf course is open all year round. Ross once described Richmond Pines as "one of the best 'small courses' in the South." Click HERE for more info.
Rockingham Dragway -- affectionately known as "The Rock"-- is one of the most famous quarter-mile drag-racing strips in the Southeast. The track is an IHRA drag strip that hosts various types of drag racing events every weekend. Rockingham Dragway is a track known for producing record-setting runs and tons of fast paced excitement. Rockingham Speedway Park is host to two
ARCA RE/MAX events and numerous additional races throughout the year. The track is known in racing circles for offering great views of racing action from every seat in the house. Camping sites without RV hook-ups are available on the speedway grounds during events. Located behind the backstretch, the speedway has added half-mile and quarter-mile ovals. Currently, the half-mile oval is used only for testing.
On the new quarter-mile track, INEX Legends and Bandoleros will be raced at least 20 times in 2009. These cars will also be back in action on the road course during the season. Click HERE for more info.
